Low cost group collapseSaid to be one of the high profile heads to be lost in the Brexit, Lowcost Travel Group has ceased trading with approximately 27,000 customers currently overseas and 110,000 forward bookings. The online travel agent (OTA), which has its head office in Palma, Majorca, closed its office and sent staff home on July 15.
In 2013, OTA announced it was moving its base to Majorca and would therefore no longer be required to offer consumer protection under the UK system, prompting the CAA to issue a statement warning holidaymakers to be cautious about booking with the company.
